You could burn the skin on the bare metal of this unit but the towels are not that warm. Also not very sturdy.

Given to a daughter in law for Christmas, it was an instant hit when she realized what it was--in the very flat uninteresting box! She reported subsequently that her towels were wonderfully warm. I did mention, courtesy of another review, not to leave it plugged in or their electric bills would go up.
